The Role:

The Director/Sr Director, Employee Relations (People Consultants and Investigations) will lead a team of employee relations specialists for Splunk in this new world of work. Leveraging their employee relations expertise, understanding of performance management and external best practices, this role is responsible for defining, leading, and supporting Splunk’s future employee relations strategy. Focus will be on supporting the team as they build new skills across conflict resolution, mediation, and building globally competent processes that are inclusive, fair and equitable. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting the processes that engage and support employees and their managers as we address performance concerns and terminations, coaching and training, insights, complaint reviews and investigations as well as reviewing practices and policy development.


We are seeking a strategic and operationally savvy leader who can think globally, collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the organization and help foster a culture that attracts and enables world class talent to make a significant impact. You will have a strong client service background, an impartial mindset and be able to think proactively to support the business and react to investigations, providing expert level consultation and guidance in all ER matters. The successful candidate will make recommendations that support globally consistent principles. Additionally, you will drive a proactive, data-driven approach to address organizational health issues and help ensure Splunkers are able to share diverse points of view with dignity and respect.


End-to-end HR acumen is a core requirement for this role. As a resourceful, driven, and positive leader, your intellectual agility, logical approach to problem solving and an ability to work at pace are key attributes of your working style. This role reports directly to the VP, Global People Partners for Splunk.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team as we reimagine Employee Relations at Splunk to address the changing world of work, by challenging current thinking and providing practical and innovative solutions that reflect our culture and foster greater employee engagement and high performance.
  • Define and lead the team focused on supporting the business to drive accountability and operational excellence from case management to delivering on priorities and projects.
  • Support the team as they build new skills and grow expertise in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to further embed fairness and equity in our systems and processes.
  • Set the strategy to execute organizational changes, which may include job eliminations and involuntary exits.
  • Define and develop workplace mediation policies and practices while proactively directing and managing complex cases to successful resolution.
  • Define how the team consults on, addresses, and trains on organizational health issues, gaps and specific employee workplace conflicts and concerns.
  • Communicate, and maintain relevant policies and practices and use data to gather insights, identify trends and develop strategies to minimize bias, remedy risk and foster greater employee engagement.
  • Build and maintain a strong partnership with internal stakeholders to assess and mitigate concerns in support of Splunk’s culture and liaise with and advise the global Business Partners on areas of concern.

Requirements:

  • 10-15+ years of demonstrated success building, managing, and scaling global HR teams with strong business and people acumen, as well as consulting and facilitation skills.
  • Adept at building trust and mutual respect with the ability to work well through ambiguity with strong executive presence and confidence with senior stakeholders and a sharp focus on the right outcomes.
  • Strong experience working in a global company leading regional and global projects of significant scope, complexity, and of a highly sensitive nature
  • Deep appreciation for and understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging issues and how they apply to employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build successful cross-functional partnerships and influence both within and outside of the People team.
  • Deep knowledge of key HR concepts and practices including employment law, investigations, compliance, performance management, compensation and an understanding of the current global legal and regulatory environment.
  • Experience utilizing talent analytics data and insights to influence senior management decision-making.
  • Communicates with clarity, compassion, conviction and confidence and possesses the cultural competence and agility to influence and collaborate effectively across regions/cultures and work with all levels across the organization.
  • A high level of ownership, confidentiality, and attention to detail with the willingness to roll-up your sleeves and jump in when necessary.
  • Ability to act as a change agent with experience in leading and successfully driving change and excited to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with new challenges each week.
  • Proclivity towards progressive, innovative, science-driven or research-based people and business practices.
  • Flexibility to move easily between operational troubleshooting and strategic planning.


Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related fields and a MBA, a plus.

Note: Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $190,400.00 - 261,800.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $172,800.00 - 237,600.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $156,800.00 - 215,600.00 per year
