We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Web Merchandising Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and overseeing the improvement of key product elements that drive the success of our website. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product data, descriptions, photos, and overall product offerings.

As a Web Merchandising Manager, your ultimate goal will be to optimize the customer experience, ensuring seamless product discovery and a smooth customer journey. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced environment, and your ability to lead, prioritize, and make data-driven decisions will be critical to your success.


You and the team you manage will ultimately be responsible for enhancing our entire product catalog of over 30 million products and growing. We understand the entire catalog can’t be perfectly managed, so a strong ability to prioritize and stay focused on the most impactful items is key! Other teams are responsible for populating the catalog, but your primary responsibility will be overseeing efforts to enhance merchandising in focused towards driving online success.


Day to day will feel more like you’re wearing a marketing hat, identifying opportunities to enhance website revenue, visits, AOV or similar metrics but specifically through improvements in the underlying product catalog. This would include:

  • Identify opportunities and prioritize efforts to improve key product elements on our website.
  • Enhance product data, descriptions, and photos to maximize customer engagement and conversion rates.
  • Determine which products to prioritize based on data analysis and market trends.
  • Coordinate with web product managers to develop compelling content for landing pages.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the availability of high-quality product information.
  • Track and analyze the overall product offering, ensuring that the most robust product data is available.
  • Remove obstacles and streamline processes to maximize the number of products sold.
  • Manage a team of three direct reports, providing guidance, coaching, and support. This team is likely to grow in the near future.
  • Coordinate with dedicated product data teams to optimize catalog creation and improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with teams such as paid advertising, SEO, and product management to align strategies and initiatives.
  • Liaise with executives and key stakeholders across multiple teams to drive the achievement of business goals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years as an individual contributor or manager of a product data, merchandising or similar product-focused team
  • 3+ years experience working in eCommerce / digital marketing
  • 2+ years managing a team of 2 or more
  • Strong experience using data to analyze, identify, and prioritize opportunities
  • An innovative, self-starting personality with a history of gaining new skills and using your intuition to improve products
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to support internal and external communication
  • Highly tuned time management and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail
  • Seasoned analytical skills including logic based problem solving and a keen eye for data trends and anomalies. This must include a strong proficiency with spreadsheets and standard analytics programs like Google Analytics
  • Experienced with change management and personally capable of guiding teams through rapid change of technology processes
  • A desire for total domination – to absolutely crush the competition and provide a product that is second to none

Bonus Points If…

  • You have coding experience or other cross-functional understanding
  • You have experience with software development or accomplishing large data projects at scale
  • You have experience in the electrical, automation, MRO or similar “parts” type industries.
  • You have management experience
  • You have experience working remotely

METRICS

  • Increase in website performance metrics as they relate to the product offering such as organic impressions, sessions, conversion rate, average order value, revenue, leads, etc.
  • Consistently meet monthly deadlines and objectives
  • Handle ongoing projects and day-to-day demands that are not identified in formal monthly objectives in a timely and accurate manner
  • Adherence to any related budget expenses
  • Adherence to/achievement of benefits described in project business case (cost/benefit) analyses

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BS or equivalent degree or experience in a business or technology related discipline such eCommerce, Computer Science, Marketing, Information Systems or comparable work experience.
  • Product Data / Merchandising: 3+ years (Required)
  • eCommerce / Digital Marketing: 3+ years (Required)
  • Team management: 2+ years (Required)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Continuous sitting and typing for extended periods.
  • Occasional, reaching/working overhead, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • Lifting requirements include occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds

EMPLOYEE EVALUATION SUMMARY

  • Probationary Review – A written evaluation of the employee’s performance will be issued to determine permanent placement in this position. This is typically done approximately 90 days after placement.
  • Monthly Evaluations – A monthly written assessment will be issued which briefly describes the individual’s performance in this position.
  • Annual Reviews – A more detailed review of the overall performance in this position, where the employee is rated and typically compensated in accordance with that rate.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is an exempt position which requires a work schedule that will achieve the results and objectives identified by the company and ecommerce management. Generally the company operates and most of those who will interface with this position work normal business hours which are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Nights and weekends may required at times based on current project and implementation needs, deadlines, and workload.
